(Monday, May 4, 2026; Dededo, Guam) – Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC), in collaboration with Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) and U.S. Naval Hospital Guam (USNH), proudly announces #HospitalWeekGU2026, a vibrant, island-wide celebration honoring the healthcare professionals who care for our community every day.
Hospital Week is a nationally recognized celebration that shines a spotlight on the people behind patient care—those working around the clock to keep our communities healthy. Here on Guam, that celebration becomes something even more meaningful, as our island’s hospitals come together as one–united by a shared purpose, a shared community, and a shared commitment to care.
Hospital Week Guam 2026 will be officially observed May 10 through May 16, 2026, with a series of pre-week activities and friendly competitions beginning as early as May 5, 2026, building momentum into a full week of connection, appreciation, and celebration across Guam’s healthcare community.
At the heart of this year’s celebration are the Hospital Week Friendship Games—a lineup of athletic and recreational events that bring healthcare teams together outside of the clinical setting. While there may be friendly competition on the court, the true goal is connection. Strengthening relationships, building teamwork, and celebrating the spirit that unites healthcare workers across the island.
This year’s celebration was thoughtfully planned by the 2026 Hospital Week Committee, with collaborative efforts beginning as early as January 2026 to create a meaningful and engaging experience for healthcare teams across all three hospitals.
From basketball and volleyball to bowling, dodgeball, and billiards, the Friendship Games offer moments of energy, laughter, and camaraderie, reminding everyone that behind every role in healthcare is a person who shows up with heart.

Staff members from the island’s hospitals, many of whom serve on the 2026 Hospital Week Committee, shared reflections on the significance of this annual celebration and the spirit of collaboration that continues to unite the island’s healthcare community.
“Hospital Week is a reflection of the heart behind healthcare on our island—the people who show up for our patients and for each other every single day,” said Chalorna “Charly” Lauron, GRMC Marketing and Communications Manager. “We are proud to continue this tradition each year for our staff, creating space to connect, recharge, and celebrate the unity that defines Guam’s healthcare community and the care we provide together.”
Tihu Lujan, GMHA Public Information Officer, adds, “This is a meaningful opportunity to recognize the dedication and quiet commitment of our healthcare teams each year. We encourage everyone across our island to join us in honoring and celebrating the hospital workers whose compassion and service make a difference in so many lives.”
“It has been a tremendous pleasure to glimpse the heroes behind the Walls of GMH and GRMC. The operations of the three hospitals are pivotal to the island’s overall health and readiness. It is an honor to be part of a partnership forged through the cooperation of Neighbors serving the community,” says Karl Cormier, USNH Lieutenant Junior Grade and Occupational Therapist.
Beyond the games, Hospital Week is also a moment to reflect on the resilience and dedication of healthcare workers, from those on the frontlines to those working behind the scenes, all of whom play an essential role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.
The community is invited to come out, show their support, and be part of the celebration, cheering on teams, connecting with healthcare workers, and recognizing the individuals who care for Guam every single day.
