GRMC Volunteer Positions and Duty Descriptions

Customer Relations Volunteer Partner

  • Welcome and assist patients, visitors, guests and other parties with hospital inquiries, requests and concerns.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with patients, guests and other visitors to the hospital.
  • Is knowledgeable of GRMC services, departments and other pertinent information about GRMC and answers questions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Handle questions and concerns in a professional, yet efficient manner.
  • Walk patients, visitors and guests to areas of the hospital when requested and available.
  • Responsible for answering phone calls within three rings and ensuring that the caller is greeted professionally.  Answers telephones, prioritizes, screens and redirects calls.
  • Greet visitors in a friendly service‑oriented fashion and made to feel comfortable by offering assistance, and helping in other appropriate ways, as observed through feedback from the Patient Satisfaction survey.

Patient Care Volunteer Partner

  • Assist in orienting patients and families with the hospital including policies, procedures and other administrative processes relevant to patient care
  • Assist in making patient rounds on a daily basis

Patient Education Volunteer Partner

  • Record data results from group classes, staff orientation, patient survey, etc.
  • Organize patient education events
  • Support the patient educators in the day-to-day activities such as :
  • Greet patients upon arrival at the center
  • Provide support to patients and families while in the waiting area
  • Help patients complete paper work
  • Assist patients identify the education tools they need
  • Provide patients with guidance on how to navigate the education video portal, and
  • Make appointment reminder calls.

Unit Secretary (ICU, SURGICAL I, SURGICAL II, TELEMETRY)

Assist our current Unit Secretaries in escorting visitors to patient rooms, handling daily administrative tasks, the importance of empathy, establishing trustworthy relationships amongst the administrative and medical team with our patients and their families and more!
