GRMC voted Best Off-Base Medical Service by Stars & Stripes

(Tuesday, July 12, 2022; Dededo, Guam) Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) was recently presented with the “2022 Best Off-Base Medical Service in the Pacific” award by Stars and Stripes newspaper. GRMC received the award as it currently celebrates its 7th anniversary during the month of July.

Douglas Johnson from Stars and Stripes Pacific Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, visited GRMC last week to present the Best of Pacific 2022 winner certificate to GRMC Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Eric Plinske, and Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer, Ted Constantino.

“We are extremely grateful to the readers of ‘Stars and Stripes’ who voted for GRMC to win this award and to Stars and Stripes Pacific for providing a venue to recognize Guam businesses and organizations that support our military community,” said Constantino. GRMC President & CEO, Alan Funtanilla, stated, “I am so proud of our employee family in earning this recognition from the miliary and Stars and Stripes as we continue to serve the community as Guam’s only civilian Joint Commission accredited hospital. In addition to caring for military patients and their family members, GRMC is also a major employer of military spouses and veterans,” Funtanilla added.

According to their website, the sole mission of Stars and Stripes newspaper is to provide first-hand reporting from bases around the world and unbiased, credible news to Americas military. Stars and Stripes Pacific annually polls members of military communities throughout the Pacific Theater on the best local facilities, services, and destinations on and off base. The annual poll results, titled “Best in the Pacific,” are then shared with daily edition subscribers and U.S. military bases throughout the Pacific Theater.

As part of its continued anniversary month celebration, GRMC will be participating in Guam’s 78th Liberation Parade, hosting a breakfast event to introduce GRMC’s physician team to community healthcare providers at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort on July 25th, and hosting a Community Health Fair at the Micronesian Mall Center Court on July 30th.
