(Thursday, October 24, 2024; Dededo, Guam and Knoxville, Tenn.) — Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) is thrilled to announce the launch of PerfectServe, an advanced clinical communication platform designed to transform physician collaboration and significantly improve patient care through real-time connectivity. The platform streamlines communication workflows and gives clinicians instant access to on-call schedules, robust message tracking capabilities, and automatic redirection when intended recipients are unavailable.
“This platform is a groundbreaking development for GRMC,” says Dr. Alexander “Beau” Wielaard, GRMC CEO. “Our providers are focused on finding innovative ways to improve the overall health of our community–this includes identifying the barriers to accessing timely care that our patients need, and we see PerfectServe as the opportunity to do just that.”
“We’re honored to support Guam Regional Medical City as they work to improve the health of their community,” says Miriam Halimi, VP of Clinical Informatics at PerfectServe. “PerfectServe is designed to meet the unique needs of healthcare organizations of all sizes, and our solutions ensure that critical communication between care team members is seamless and secure. We look forward to contributing to GRMC’s mission of providing exceptional care to their patients through more efficient and coordinated workflows.”
Transforming Communication and Care Delivery
In the first phase of the implementation, PerfectServe successfully brought 15 departments live at GRMC, onboarding approximately 1,500 users—spread across both inpatient and outpatient locations—onto the platform. This also included integrating PerfectServe with GRMC’s EHR, enabling clinicians to access critical information and communicate seamlessly across different systems.
The next phase of the project will involve automating the delivery of critical lab results, consult orders, and nurse call alerts—enhancements that will continue to drive efficiency and better patient outcomes.
Prior to PerfectServe, GRMC staff had limited, manual communication processes, often relying on the call center to track down on-call schedules and follow up on unanswered messages. This lack of structure placed a significant burden on staff, especially the call center agents, who handled much of the coordination manually. With PerfectServe, these issues are resolved through automated workflows and escalations, dramatically improving response times and freeing up staff for more critical tasks.
Supporting GRMC’s Unique Needs
The implementation also introduced enterprise emergency alerting capabilities, a key feature given Guam’s location. GRMC can now rapidly notify staff about critical events such as tsunamis or military activity, ensuring that response teams are mobilized quickly and efficiently in times of crisis.
Additionally, PerfectServe’s platform supports communication with staff members who may be off-site, traveling to the mainland U.S., or otherwise not physically present at the hospital. This flexibility is invaluable, especially for team members who are on call or have to respond to urgent messages while away from the facility.
Finally, the 14-hour time difference between PerfectServe’s implementation team and the staff at GRMC required extraordinary coordination. Both teams demonstrated a high level of commitment, often working early mornings and late nights to ensure a smooth rollout.
Flexibility and dedication were instrumental in the success of the project, setting the stage for ongoing improvements and collaboration.
