(Dededo, Guam – August 15, 2024) Guam Regional Medial City (GRMC) is proud to announce that it has been honored with the American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG®) Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, following its achievement of their GWTG® Stroke Gold Award in 2023. This recognition highlights not only the hospital’s continuous dedication to delivering exceptional care and improving patient outcomes, but also demonstrates its commitment to maintaining high standards of medical excellence and innovation.

Recognized by the AHA GWTG® Program, GRMC demonstrated consistent excellence by achieving two or more consecutive years of 85% or higher adherence to all achievement measures and 75% or higher adherence to additional quality measures in heart failure and stroke.

GRMC is proud to receive this award, as it reflects their dedicated healthcare team’s commitment to excellence and their relentless focus on improving the lives of their stroke patients. Participation in the AHA GWTG® Program confirms the hospital’s ongoing commitment to quality improvement in stroke care, utilizing evidence-based practices to optimize patient outcomes and elevate the standard of care. Participation in “The Advanced Therapy” establishes GRMC’s ability to offer progressive interventions, which can dramatically enhance recovery and minimize long-term effects of stroke for patients.

“We are thrilled to have received the GWTG-Stroke Gold Plus and Honor Roll: Advanced Therapy awards from the American Heart & Stroke Associations this year. These awards speak to the high-quality stroke care that we aim to provide to our patients every day. We especially congratulate our neuro-interventional physicians and nursing staff for their achievement in exceeding national benchmarks for efficiency in thrombectomy procedures.,” says Elisabeth Collins, GRMC Nurse Practitioner and Stroke Program Manager.

This recognition further emphasizes GRMC’s mission, which is “To care for our patients, their families, and our employees as we would a beloved family member.”
