GRMC to Lift Mask Requirement by July 1st

Guidance in place for individuals exhibiting symptoms

(Thursday, June 29, 2023; Dededo, Guam) Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) is pleased to announce that, effective July 1, 2023, the requirement for patients and visitors to wear face masks will be lifted, with the exception of individuals displaying cold and flu symptoms. This decision is aimed at ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all while preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses.

As part of this new policy, all individuals who exhibit symptoms such as cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, congestion, fever, or sore throat are kindly asked to wear a mask at all times while within the premises. This precautionary measure is vital to protect the health and well-being of our patients, visitors, and staff.

While GRMC values the support and companionship of loved ones during patients’ hospital stays, we highly encourage individuals with cold and flu symptoms to reconsider non-essential visitations to minimize the risk of transmitting infections. To further facilitate a healthy environment, masks will be readily available upon request.

GRMC remains committed to providing the highest standard of care and safety to our patients and visitors. We continuously monitor the local health situation and follow guidelines from public health authorities to adapt our policies accordingly.
