GRMC to Make Changes to Visitation Guidelines

Limited Visitation Will Include Extended Visitation on the Holidays, beginning with Thanksgiving

(Tuesday, November 23, 2021; Dededo, Guam) On behalf of the employees and management of Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC), we would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. GRMC is thankful to the community’s effort in helping with decreasing the number of COVID cases which allowed the Governor to issue Executive Order 2021-29, easing COVID-related restrictions. As a result, GRMC will begin allowing limited visitation within the hospital beginning Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021 at 9 AM.

Please be advised that all visitors to GRMC must be fully vaccinated for COVID and will be required to show proof of vaccination before entering the hospital. Anyone unable to provide proof of full COVID vaccination and identification will not be allowed to visit.

INPATIENT VISITATION

Limited visiting hours for non-COVID patients will be daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. Patients will be allowed to have two visitors per day for a period of two hours. Visitors must be age 13 and older.

No extension of visitation hours will be allowed at this time. Visitors may not switch with other people during the two-hour visiting period. However, they may change visitors each day.

HOLIDAY INPATIENT VISITATION

GRMC recognizes that holidays are some of the most special times we can spend together as a family and so on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, the number of visitors will increase to four persons for a period of four hours. No rotation of visitors will be allowed.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (ED)

Patients in the Emergency department will be allowed to have one visitor for one hour, no rotation.

SURGICAL PATIENTS

Patient companions are required to wait in their respective vehicle while patients are being assessed for or undergoing surgical procedures. The designated companion will be called by phone when the procedure is completed. The companion may meet the patient from the second floor and receive discharge instructions.

GRMC requires everyone to wear a mask at all times, no exceptions. Valved masks are unacceptable. Visitors will be required to show ID and submit to a search of any bags. These measures are to protect the safety of our visitors, patients, and staff.

GRMC is grateful to the community for their efforts to curb the spread of COVID and reduce the number of new cases by getting vaccinated. We strongly urge the public to remain vigilant by continuing to wear a mask, practice social distancing and proper hand hygiene.
