GRMC Will Suspend ALL Visitation Due to Sharp Rise in COVID Cases
Visitation Canceled Until Further Notice Effective Monday, August 16th at 9 AM
(Sunday, August 15, 2020; Dededo, Guam) Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) will suspend all visitation effective Monday, August 16, 2021 until further notice. Suspending visitation is in direct response to the sharp rise in COVID cases. The suspension of visiting hours will affect all departments, with limited exceptions, beginning at 9:00 AM on Monday.
Suspension of visitation will affect our departments as follows:
INPATIENT VISITATION
The suspension of visitation applies to all inpatient units and includes overnight visitors. No overnight visitors allowed unless specific order is given by the provider in consultation with nursing staff.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (ED)
No visitors will be allowed in the Emergency department. The only exceptions are for children, who may be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian and adults with disabilities who require assistance may have one adult companion.
Anyone coming to the ED must come through the ED entrance only. ED patient companion(s), except the aforementioned, will be asked to stay in their vehicle and will not be allowed inside. Companions will be asked for a contact number and will be notified of the patient’s condition. If companions choose to wait in the ED Visitors parking area, it is located near the ED entrance.
SPECIALTY CLINICS/ONE STOP CENTER
Outpatients who require assistance getting to and from their appointments are allowed one companion per patient. Outpatients and their companion must enter through the Main Lobby or east entrance of the hospital and check in with Customer Relations for an orange-colored badge, indicating Specialty Clinic.
SURGICAL PATIENTS
Patient companions will not be allowed to wait in the lobby area until further notice, this applies to patients being assessed for surgery or during surgical procedures. Designated companions will be asked to leave their name and contact number and will be notified when the procedure is finished.
MORGUE VIEWING
Viewing is limited to 5 people for a max of 1 hour.
Due to the sharp rise in COVID cases, GRMC must enforce these strict visitation precautions to protect patients and staff. GRMC joins Governor Leon Guerrero and our healthcare partners in encouraging everyone who is able to get vaccinated. GRMC urges the public to continue protecting themselves and others by practicing proper hand hygiene and social distancing.
GRMC will enforce our mask policy and anyone entering the hospital will be required to wear one, no exceptions. Valved masks are not acceptable and will not be allowed. All patients, staff, and vendors will be required to wear a mask while inside of GRMC.
