GRMC Updates Its Visitation Policy

PCOR 3 Allowing for Relaxed Guidelines

(Thursday, July 23, 2020; Dededo, Guam) Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) has updated its visitation policies in response to Governor Leon Guerrero placing Guam in PCOR 3. The relaxed restrictions from PCOR 3 for COVID-19 will allow GRMC to accommodate additional visitors under certain conditions. These new policies go in to effect tomorrow at 9:00 am.

The first change affects Inpatient visitors, who can visit from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. Inpatients will now be allowed to have two visitors at the same time for one hour per day. Family members may alternate with other family within the one-hour period.

Visitation times are pre-assigned for each room. If visitors do not know the assigned time for a particular room, they should contact Customer Relations at 645-5500. No visitation extensions will be granted.

Patients who are on comfort care will be allowed up to four visitors and may also switch family members within the one-hour visitation period. Children are now allowed to visit, but for comfort care patients only.

The Emergency Department has updated their visitation to one adult visitor every hour at the top of the hour for no more than 15 minutes at a time. Visitors may be no later than 15 minutes or they will have to wait until the next hour begins for visitation. Minors may have one adult/guardian with them at all times. Patients with special needs are allowed one visitor to stay with them.

Patients having outpatient surgery may now have one companion wait during the procedure at the second-floor lobby. Viewing at the morgue has been extended to two hours and up to 10 people may attend. Family members may alternate with other family within the two-hour period. Visitation policies in the Specialty Clinics and the ICU remain the same.

GRMC continues to observe the “no mask, no entry” policy. Please note, valved masks are not allowed. Visitors are also required to have their temperature taken. GRMC also advise the public that a photo ID may be requested.
