(Monday, December 9, 2019; Dededo, Guam) Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) recently launched its new Patient Portal, which gives patients 24-hour access to their medical records via a secure, confidential and easy-to-use new website designed specifically for this purpose. The Patient Portal will make it easier for patients to access their GRMC medical records when visiting with their primary care provider or when travelling off-island.

“A majority of healthcare systems around the nation have implemented patient portals because they improve healthcare efficiency by making it easier for patients to access follow-up appointments online, promoting better patient-physician relationships, and improving patient compliance and clinical outcomes,” said Dr. Felix Cabrera of GRMC. “Patients have a right to access their records, that information belongs to them. They own this data. In fact, many prominent healthcare systems are embracing what is called, ‘data democratization’ which means that everyone can access their medical data without gatekeepers or bottlenecks.”

GRMC’s Patient Portal uses the latest encryption technology to ensure patients have a secure line of communication to access their records, medication lists, tests results, and more, conveniently and confidentially. To enroll in the GRMC Patient Portal, you must have been or are currently an existing patient of GRMC. Then go to https://portal.grmc.gu/SPPUI and click on “Register Now” in the sign-in box. Follow the simple instructions and within minutes, you will have secure online access to your medical records.

GRMC strongly advises against sharing your username and password with anyone in order to protect your private health information. Parents, legal guardians, and caregivers will need to fill out and sign a consent form from our Health Information Management (HIM) department to create a Patient Portal for patients in their care.
