(Wednesday, June 6, 2018) Guam Regional Medical City recently contributed eight pallets of recycled linens to the Ayuda Foundation valued at $15,000. The donation, which consisted of bed sheets, blankets, and gowns, was sent to the Republic of the Marshall Islands, where they will be used at the Majuro Hospital.
The donated items were slightly damaged with small medical stains too stubborn to be removed by GRMC’s professional cleaning provider, rendering them unusable. The high quality of the material in the linens were still an attractive option for the hospital in Majuro, who could put the items to good use. The pallets were shipped to Majuro by Triple B Forwarders, who donated their costs to move the items.
GRMC and the Ayuda Foundation, a local non-profit organization whose specialty is supporting struggling hospitals in the Pacific region, collaborated previously in February to send four pallets of linens to the Pohnpei State Hospital. This donation is another in the series of GRMC’s ongoing community outreach in to the outer islands of Micronesia.
