Dr. Chawat Tongma is an Internal Medicine specialist and a Hospitalist, a dedicated in-patient physician who works exclusively in the hospital.

After graduating from Mahidol University in Thailand, Dr. Tongma worked as a General Practitioner at hospitals in Chiangrai and Bangkok. He then completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawaii in 2014 and an Infectious Disease Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago in 2016.

Dr. Tongma has conducted research in various areas including invasive fungal infection in bone marrow transplant recipients, albuminuria in HIV-infected population and prevention of blood culture contamination. He has a special interest in drug resistant microorganism and tropical diseases.  Dr. Tongma is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infections Disease.

When he’s not on duty, Dr. Tongma enjoys backpacking and traveling. Apart from Thai and English, he has also learned to speak Spanish and Japanese. He loves Latin dancing and playing the violin.
