Dr. Shay has over 10 years’ experience in Neurointerventional Radiology. He specializes in minimally invasive image-based technologies and procedures which he uses to diagnose and treat diseases of the head, neck, and spine. Dr. Shay works in close collaboration with GRMC’s Neurosurgeon and Neurologist to provide comprehensive treatment for strokes, aneurysms and other neurological conditions. Dr. Shay also provides a full range of Interventional Radiology treatments.
Dr. Shay previously served as the Chief of Interventional Neuroradiology at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville. He also served as the Medical Director of Neurointerventional Surgery at the Neuroscience Institute of The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu and the Director of Neurointerventional Radiology at the Geisinger Health System in Danville Pennsylvania.
He graduated from the University of California, Davis and received his medical degree at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Shay is U.S. Navy veteran. He completed an Internship at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland and a Radiology Residency at the Stanford University Medical Center. He received a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and went on to another Fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
