Dr. Michael Agustin is a Pulmonologist and Critical Care Physician.
Dr. Agustin joined GRMC after completing a Pulmonary and Critical care Fellowship at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center/Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He served his residency at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Brown University. Dr. Agustin was awarded Intern and Resident of the Year in 2010 and 2013 respectively. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines.
Dr. Agustin pioneered the creation of a comprehensive Pulmonary Department in Guam. He established the Pulmonary Lab, Pulmonary Subspecialty Clinic for lung cancer, bronchiectasis, and severe asthma as well as the Pleural Clinic. He introduced Guam’s first Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic and remains its current Director. He expanded lung cancer diagnostic capabilities in Guam by introducing the use of Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS). Together with GRMC Oncologists, they established GRMC Tumor Boards. He published several interesting cases from Guam to international journals.
Dr. Agustin is triple-Board Certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, the Philippines, and Guam. Dr. Agustin previously served as GRMC’s Director of the Intensive Care Unit and Chair of Medicine Department. His work on Guam paved the way for his being awarded a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP).
