Dr. Joe Miller is a highly experienced and board-certified urologist with a career that spans both military and civilian healthcare settings. With a background as a former naval aviator, he brings a unique combination of technical expertise, leadership, and a deep commitment to patient care. Throughout his career, Dr. Miller has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to advancing urological care.
Dr. Miller earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed his urology residency at Southern Illinois University, as well as a fellowship in Laparoscopy and Endoscopy at the University of California, San Francisco. His medical education and training have provided him with a strong foundation in both general and specialized urology.
Dr. Miller has served as the Urology Department Head and Chief of Surgery, including the US Naval Hospital Okinawa, Naval Medical Center San Diego, and US Naval Hospital Rota. His leadership roles have encompassed not only direct patient care but also overseeing department operations, managing clinical teams, and implementing best practices in surgical procedures and patient safety.
In addition, Dr. Miller has worked as a urologist in several civilian hospitals, including Northern Inyo Health District in California and El Centro Regional Medical Center in Southern California. These diverse experiences have broadened his clinical skill set and enhanced his ability to adapt to various healthcare environments, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of patient needs across different settings.
Dr. Miller seeks to continue his career in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing his extensive expertise in urology, medical leadership, and patient care to the island community and neighboring islands.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Miller enjoys running, scuba diving, and traveling.
