Jessica Blakely, NP, joined the GRMC team in early 2025, bringing eight years of experience both as a registered nurse and as a nurse practitioner in the hospital setting. Following the completion of her BSN at the George Washington University, she practiced for five years at the region’s leading academic medical center. As a bedside nurse, she worked in each of the five adult critical care units, as well as in the adult step-down units and emergency department. She helped found the Medical-Surgical ICU’s nursing education committee, was a member of the hospital-wide night shift nursing improvement council, acted as a clinical mentor and educator for approximately 200 new graduate registered nurses throughout the system, helped found and lead both the COVID-19 nursing task force and the ECMO nursing council, and she remains an active member on the system-wide clinical ethics committee. In 2022, she completed her MSN with a concentration in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner studies and continued her work in critical care medicine as an advanced practice provider. She has specialized primarily in medical critical care, surgical critical care, cardiac/medical critical care, and neurologic/neurosurgical critical care. She continued her formal training and has gained vital experience in the outpatient setting, earning a post-master’s certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2024. In addition to her primary work in critical care, Jessica has also worked as a registered nurse in addictions and behavioral health for approximately three years, has served as a private tutor for nursing students across the US, and has worked as a patient advocate to help Medicare patients navigate the healthcare system. She enjoys humanitarian work, having taken part in medical missions following natural disasters, political upheaval, and in areas of chronic resource scarcity. She currently serves as a volunteer medical provider and project coordinator for an NGO focusing on providing primary care services and disease prevention in Bohol, Philippines. In her free time, Jessica enjoys running, mountain biking, diving, swimming, and playing with her beloved rescue pets. With Jessica’s experience and dedication, she will be instrumental in supporting both patients and healthcare teams at GRMC. Her expertise will be a tremendous resource as Guam continues to build a stronger, more robust healthcare system for its people.
