Dr. Gamaliel Jesse T. Ferrer is a Family Medicine Hospitalist at Guam Regional Medical City

Dr. Gamaliel Jesse T. Ferrer is a Family Medicine Hospitalist at Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC). He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) in Cavite, Philippines, where he was recognized as an Outstanding Junior Medical Intern in Surgery, Pediatrics, and Family & Community Medicine. He subsequently completed a comprehensive rotating internship with training in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Family & Community Medicine, ENT, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, and Anesthesiology.
After serving as a general practitioner at Brookside Clinics and Wellness Center Inc. in General Trias, Philippines, Dr. Ferrer pursued additional clinical training through observership programs in Illinois and California, as well as a preceptorship program in Hawaii. He completed his Family Medicine Residency through the University of Minnesota/CentraCare Saint Cloud Hospital in 2022.
Prior to joining GRMC in 2023, Dr. Ferrer served as a primary care physician at CentraCare Sartell Clinic, an urgent care provider at CentraCare Plaza Urgent Care, and a locum tenens hospitalist at CentraCare–Rice Memorial Hospital in Minnesota. He brings extensive experience in family medicine, primary care, urgent care, and hospital medicine.
Board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine since 2022, Dr. Ferrer provides comprehensive, patient-centered care across a broad spectrum of medical conditions. In 2026, he became Guam’s only board-certified obesity medicine specialist after earning certification through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). This distinction reflects advanced training in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of obesity and metabolic disease through evidence-based approaches to nutrition, physical activity, behavioral therapy, and medical management.
Committed to serving communities both locally and abroad, Dr. Ferrer has participated in numerous medical missions throughout the Philippines, providing free consultations, minor procedures, and medications to underserved populations. He has also volunteered with the American Red Cross as a donor ambassador and at the Banner Ironwood Medical Center Primary Care Clinic in Arizona.
Dr. Ferrer is a native Tagalog speaker and is fluent in English. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, drawing, painting, reading, badminton, hiking, traveling, and other outdoor activities.
