Biography

Dr. Kenneth W. Carr is a highly experienced cardiologist with a career spanning more than four decades in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He earned his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Human Biology from Stanford University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in Cardiology at UC San Diego Medical Center, establishing the foundation for his lifelong dedication to cardiovascular medicine.

Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, Dr. Carr has served in leading roles at multiple institutions, including Chairman of the Division of Cardiology and Chief of Noninvasive Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, California. He later joined Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Alaska, continuing his commitment to patient-centered care. His expertise encompasses all aspects of cardiology, from noninvasive diagnostics to interventional therapies, with a focus on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based medicine

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Carr has been a principal investigator in numerous national and international clinical trials, contributing to advancements in treatments for myocardial infarction, anticoagulation, and heart failure. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, presented at medical conferences, and has been recognized with honors such as the Samuel B. Hamburger Award for best thesis during medical school

Dr. Carr is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and now brings his expertise to GRMC. His dedication to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care makes him a valuable asset to GRMC and the island community.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Carr enjoys swimming.
