Chandler Barnes, MS, CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist at GRMC with extensive experience across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, home health, outpatient, and educational settings. She is highly skilled in evaluating and treating dysphagia, speech, and cognitive-communication disorders in diverse patient populations. Chandler brings her compassionate, evidence-based approach to advancing speech and swallowing care at GRMC.
Chandler Barnes earned her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (with a minor in Psychology) from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and maintains active certifications in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), Passy Muir Valve, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP).
Her diverse clinical experience spans across multiple care settings, including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, home health, outpatient clinics, and schools. Chandler has provided skilled diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with tracheostomy, laryngectomy, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), dementia, aphasia, apraxia, Parkinson’s disease, head/neck cancer, intellectual disabilities, and cognitive-communication disorders, . She is experienced in conducting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) to assess swallowing physiology and guide individualized treatment plans that enhance safety and quality of life.
As a military spouse, Chandler has practiced at multiple medical centers across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and North Carolina providing outpatient services, home health services, and acute and inpatient rehabilitation speech-language pathology services.
Now a member of the Speech-Language Pathology team at GRMC, Chandler brings her wide-ranging clinical expertise and patient-centered philosophy to Guam’s growing rehabilitation services.
Outside of the hospital, Chandler enjoys reading, listening to true crime podcasts, and spending time with her husband and two young children.
