Biography

 

Axel Rosengart, MD PhD MPH, is a distinguished neurologist specializing in vascular neurology and neurocritical care at GRMC.

Dr. Rosengart received his medical degree from the Universities of Kiel and Lübeck in Germany, where he also earned a PhD in Neuroscience. He completed his residency in Neurology at Albert Einstein in New York and holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Epidemiology from Columbia Presbyterian in New York. Dr. Rosengart furthered his expertise through fellowships in Vascular Neurology at Tufts in Boston, Neuroscience Critical Care at Columbia in New York, and Neuroendovascular Surgery at Geisinger in Pennsylvania.

His illustrious career includes notable positions such as Director of Neuroscience Critical Care and Medical Director of Neuroscience Advanced Practitioner Providers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He also served as Medical Director of Neuroscience Critical Care and Emergency Neurology and Neurosurgery, as well as Medical Director of Neuroscience Advanced Practitioner Providers at Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian Hospitals in New York City. Additionally, Dr. Rosengart was the Medical and Founding Director of the Stroke Center, Neuroscience Critical Care, and Stroke Program at The University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Rosengart holds multiple board certifications, including Neurology and Psychiatry from the German Society of Neurology, as well as certifications in Neurocritical Care from the Society of Neurological Surgeons and the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. Fluent in both English and German, Dr. Rosengart dedicates his leisure time to nonprofit missions aimed at educating others in his areas of expertise and general health. He also enjoys participating in triathlons.
