Biography

John Walsh, CRNA, serves as the Chief Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at GRMC, where he leads the anesthesia team and provides care for patients across a wide range of specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, and cardiac procedures. A proud Magna Cum Laude graduate of Otterbein University’s Nurse Anesthesia program, John also holds a Cum Laude Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of San Francisco.

Before returning home to Guam, John practiced as a Staff CRNA at Springfield Regional Medical Center in Ohio, a Level II trauma and cardiac hospital. There, he gained extensive experience in anesthesia for complex surgical cases, including open-heart, vascular, and neurosurgical procedures. He also trained student nurse anesthetists and medical students, emphasizing patient safety and precision in every case.

John began his nursing career at Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, where he served in both the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. His years in critical care—managing trauma and critically ill patients—shaped his calm leadership and strong clinical judgment in high-pressure environments.

In addition to his work at GRMC, John proudly serves as a Captain in the United States Army Reserves, commanding the 1984th U.S. Army Hospital Detachment 3 in Guam. His dedication to excellence, service, and patient-centered care continues to make a lasting impact on Guam’s healthcare community.

Outside of work, John enjoys weightlifting, guitar, boxing, volleyball, and spending time with family.
