(Thursday, December 4, 2025; Dededo, Guam) – Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) proudly recognizes Kristine Stanley, RN, CNML, GRMC Intensive Care Unit Nurse Manager, for earning the Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) credential from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), an affiliate of the American Hospital Association (AHA). This milestone makes Stanley the first and only nurse manager in Guam to hold this national certification, marking a historic achievement for nursing leadership in the island’s healthcare community.
Stanley began her nursing career at GRMC in January 2016 as a new graduate in the Emergency Department, quickly demonstrating exceptional clinical skill and leadership potential. Within her first few years, she rose to roles of Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor, gaining experience across high-acuity environments. In December 2019, she joined the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she continued to excel both at the bedside and in leadership roles before being appointed ICU Nurse Manager in October 2021.
Throughout her nearly decade-long career at GRMC, Stanley has led through some of the organization’s most defining moments. She has guided her teams through multiple CMS and Joint Commission surveys, developed and implemented clinical policies, and played a pivotal role in advancing specialized services for Guam’s patients. Notably, she led the operational development of GRMC’s Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) program—bringing this life-saving treatment to Guam’s civilian population for the first time. Her leadership involved drafting policy, designing clinical flowsheets, and coordinating collaboration across multiple departments and external facilities to ensure safe implementation and nurse training.

In 2025, Stanley also provided temporary leadership oversight of GRMC’s Emergency Department, where she led the hospital through a critical CMS resurvey, achieving full compliance in key standards and safeguarding GRMC’s accreditation. During this same period, she achieved her CNML certification, demonstrating mastery in areas such as financial management, human resources, performance improvement, and strategic operations.
“Kristine embodies the spirit of nursing leadership that we value deeply at GRMC,” said Jennifer Cruz, GRMC Chief Nursing & Ancillary Officer. “Her ability to lead with compassion, clinical excellence, and strategic focus has strengthened not only our ICU and Emergency teams but the hospital as a whole. Her achievement as Guam’s first Certified Nurse Manager and Leader sets an inspiring example for nurses who aspire to lead and elevate the standard of care for our island community.”
Reflecting on her journey, Stanley shared that when she began her nursing career, her goal was simply to become a proficient bedside nurse. “I never imagined the leadership opportunities that would follow,” she said. “I’m grateful for the mentors who believed in me early on and continue to inspire how I lead others today.”
As a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader, Stanley’s credential affirms her expertise and leadership in modern healthcare management, aligning with GRMC’s mission to deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care to the people of Guam and Micronesia.
Her achievement follows a series of recognitions, including being named GRMC’s 3rd Quarter Employee of the Quarter (2025) and multiple DAISY Award nominations, underscoring her commitment to GRMC’s iCARE values—Inspirational, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, and Excellence.
