Biography

Dr. Michael Martin is a board-certified Medical Oncologist, where he also serves on the Medical Oncology Board of Governance. His distinguished career bridges academic medicine, international oncology, and clinical excellence. He currently practices at GRMC, bringing his expertise and personalized cancer care to the island community.

Dr. Martin earned his Doctor of Medicine with Highest Honors at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He previously completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Memphis. Dr. Martin trained in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and completed his fellowship in Medical Oncology at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where he also served as a post-doctoral research fellow in hematologic malignancies.

Prior to joining GRMC, Dr. Martin served as a Medical Oncologist at The West Cancer Center and Research Institute and held academic appointments as a Volunteer Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He has contributed extensively to cancer research, publishing in leading journals, presenting at international conferences, and serving on committees for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).

Dr. Martin’s work extends beyond the hospital, reflecting a deep commitment to global health. He has served as a Fulbright Scholar in Nigeria, participated in oncology missions in Nepal, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan, and raised significant funding to support hospice care, COVID-19 relief, and mental health programs for cancer patients.

At GRMC, Dr. Martin is dedicated to delivering world-class oncology care to Guam and Micronesia, combining advanced treatment approaches with compassionate, patient-centered care.

Outside of his professional duties, Dr. Martin enjoys scuba, hiking, painting, and exploring the world.
