Dr. Ryan Carver is a dual board-certified General Surgeon and Surgical Critical Care physician with expertise spanning general surgery, trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, critical care, and endoscopy. Drawing on his experience in both academic medical centers and community hospitals, he is known for his versatility, clinical excellence, and patient-centered approach to care.

Biography

Dr. Ryan Carver graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a double major in Microbiology and Human Nutrition/Food Science. He earned his Medical Doctorate with honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine before completing his General Surgery residency and Surgical Critical Care fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS).

Dr. Carver has practiced in both academic medical centers and community hospitals across Northern and Eastern Virginia, providing care in general surgery, trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, critical care, and endoscopy. His career has taken him to a variety of hospital settings, reflecting a commitment to service, adaptability, and high-quality patient care.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Carver previously served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, training residents and medical students in operative and critical care settings. His teaching excellence has been recognized with the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award from the EVMS General Surgery Residency Program and the Off-Site Staff Teaching Award from the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Department of Emergency Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Carver is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and an inductee of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Outside of professional commitments, Dr. Carver enjoys weight training, running, cooking, traveling with his family, and exploring history both at home and abroad.
