“(Friday, November 14, 2025; Dededo, Guam) – Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) proudly announces a strengthened Orthopedics Department with the expertise of four exceptional surgeons — Dr. Carmelino Galang (Director of GRMC’s Bone and Joint Center and Surgery), Dr. Ruben Arafiles, Dr. Jordan Tropf, and Dr. Jon Goldstein. Together, they form the island’s most comprehensive orthopedic team, combining decades of surgical experience, innovation, and compassion to advance patient care.

A New Era of Orthopedic Care for Guam
Dr. Carmelino Galang, Director of GRMC’s Bone and Joint Center and Surgery, leads the
Orthopedics Department with more than 35 years of experience treating bone, joint,
and muscle conditions. Dr. Galang specializes in total knee and hip replacements, knee
arthroscopy, and orthopedic trauma care. His leadership and extensive background in
both U.S. and international hospitals ensure patients at GRMC receive expert,
multidisciplinary care built on precision, innovation, and compassion.

DR. RUBEN ARAFILES
“Dr. Ruben Arafiles, who has been with GRMC since June 2025, brings a wealth of experience in joint replacement, fracture management, and reconstructive orthopedic surgery. Like Dr. Galang, he performs total knee and hip replacements, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, and treats conditions such as arthritis, extremity fractures, joint disorders, and limb deformities. His years of international training and research have made him a respected leader in orthopedic care and education across the region, continuously raising the standard of musculoskeletal health for island residents.”

DR. JORDAN TROPF

Dr. Jordan Tropf, who joined GRMC in September 2025, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, shoulder and knee surgery, and advanced arthroscopic techniques. He treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, ACL and meniscal injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendon tears and fractures. Dr. Tropf performs all major joint and ligament repairs using arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques that help patients recover strength and mobility faster. Whether treating an athlete recovering from an ACL reconstruction or a patient managing shoulder pain, his approach focuses on restoring full function through precise, performance-driven care.

DR. JON GOLDSTEIN

Dr. Jon Goldstein, who joined GRMC in October 2025, brings decades of experience in shoulder, hand, knee, and elbow surgery, including treatment for rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglion cysts, meniscal tears, and cubital tunnel syndrome and fractures. Known for his meticulous approach and commitment to patient recovery, Dr. Goldstein provides precision-driven care for both acute injuries and chronic orthopedic concerns.
