GRMC’s Chief Nursing and Ancillary Officer, Jennifer Cruz Earns
National Nursing Leadership Certification from ANCC

(Monday, June 9, 2025; Dededo, Guam) – Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) proudly announces that Chief
Nursing and Ancillary Officer, Jennifer Cruz, MSN, RN, NE-BC, MEDSURG-BC, has earned the Nurse Executive –
Board Certified (NE-BC) certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This nationally
recognized certification demonstrates Cruz’s advanced knowledge in nursing leadership and her continued
commitment to clinical excellence and professional growth.

The ANCC NE-BC is one of the most respected certifications for nurse executives in the United States. To earn
this distinction, Cruz completed a rigorous eligibility and examination process that included several months of
intensive preparation and review of advanced nursing leadership concepts such as strategic management,
systems thinking, quality improvement, financial oversight, and shared governance.

The certification is awarded to nurse leaders who meet strict professional experience requirements and pass a
challenging three-hour exam designed to evaluate their ability to lead and innovate within complex healthcare
organizations. Cruz prepared for the exam while fulfilling her responsibilities as an executive at GRMC,
demonstrating her exceptional time management, discipline, and passion for lifelong learning.

“As nurses, we owe it to our teams and our patients to stay informed, inspired, and equipped to meet the
demands of modern healthcare,” says Cruz. “I pursued this certification not only as a personal and
professional milestone, but because I believe our nurses and patients deserve leadership that is rooted in
evidence-based practice, accountability, and compassion. Earning this credential is deeply meaningful to me
and I want it to reflect my ongoing commitment to growth, to our team, and to the people we serve every
day.”

Cruz has been with GRMC since 2014 and has more than three decades of nursing experience. She is known
for her compassionate leadership, operational expertise, and strong advocacy for nurse advancement on
Guam. Her ANCC certification strengthens her ability to guide nursing services at GRMC using nationally
benchmarked leadership principles.

“Jennifer’s commitment to pursuing this nationally recognized certification, while continuing to lead our
clinical teams and hospital operations, speaks volumes about her resilience, discipline, and unwavering pursuit
of excellence,” said Dr. Alexander “Beau” Wielaard, GRMC’s Chief Executive Officer. “This accomplishment is
not just a personal milestone, it reinforces GRMC’s broader vision of elevating healthcare leadership in Guam
and ensuring that our community receives care guided by the highest standards. Jennifer’s leadership fosters a
culture of integrity, continuous learning, and compassion. This achievement reminds us that excellence in
healthcare isn’t accidental, it’s intentional, and it starts at the top.”

Cruz is now among an elite community of board-certified nurse executives recognized for their excellence in
driving organizational and clinical success.

GRMC extends its warmest congratulations to Jennifer Cruz on this well-earned achievement and celebrates
her ongoing contributions to the advancement of nursing leadership in Guam and the region.
