Guam Regional Medical City Welcomes Dr. Kin-Sing Au, Radiation Oncologist, to Continue Providing
Advanced Cancer Care to Guam
(Wednesday, February 12, 2025; Dededo, Guam) — Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Kin-Sing Au, a board-certified radiation oncologist with more than 30 years of clinical experience in treating cancer, to its growing cancer care team. Dr. Au, who has been at the forefront of cancer treatment throughout his career, will continue to provide advanced radiation oncology services for Guam’s cancer patients at GRMC, bringing cutting-edge treatments directly to the island community.
Dr. Au graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland with an extensive background that includes leadership roles such as Medical Director at Guam’s Island Cancer Center and Clinical Director of Radiation Oncology at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne, Virginia. With a career dedicated to improving cancer outcomes, he has treated thousands of patients and is widely respected for his expertise and compassionate care.
I’ve been treating cancer patients for over three decades, and I understand the profound emotional, physical, and financial toll a cancer diagnosis can take,” said Dr. Au. “This opportunity allows me to continue providing top-tier cancer treatment to our patients without having to leave their home and family on island, getting all the treatment and support they need under one roof. By working alongside GRMC’s oncology team, we aim to offer comprehensive, personalized care that addresses each patient’s unique needs—empowering them with better outcomes and a sense of hope for the future.
GRMC has long been committed to providing the highest standard of care for patients, and Dr. Au’s arrival further solidifies this mission. The hospital’s cancer program offers state-of-the-art radiation therapy using the Varian Truebeam linear accelerator, a highly advanced machine that plays a crucial role in modern cancer treatment. This machine delivers precise, non-invasive, high-energy radiation directly to the tumor, allowing doctors to target cancer cells with incredible accuracy. This means that healthy tissue around the tumor is less affected, minimizing side effects and ensures that the radiation treatment is as effective as possible.
This advanced technology is just one part of the hospital’s comprehensive cancer treatment program. Cancer patients at GRMC can feel confident that they are receiving the most advanced, effective treatment available, giving them the best opportunity for recovery and improved quality of life.
Summer Medler, Cancer Program Director of Operations at GRMC, expressed her excitement about Dr. Au’s arrival, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Au to our hospital. His extensive experience and passion make him a perfect fit for our team. We look forward to the incredible impact he will have in transforming cancer care for our island community. Dr. Au’s expertise will enhance our mission to provide world-class healthcare right here at home, and we are excited to see the positive difference he will make in the lives of our patients.”
Dr. Au’s transition to GRMC is particularly significant as it addresses a critical need in Guam’s healthcare landscape. Dr. Au emphasized the collaborative approach he plans to take with the GRMC oncology team.
“The key to providing effective cancer care is collaboration. Working closely with medical oncologists, surgeons, and our support staff, we’ll develop customized treatment plans that give each patient the best possible chance for a positive outcome. I’m excited to be part of a team that is committed to providing the most effective and compassionate care,” said Dr. Au.
Individuals seeking consultation or treatment are encouraged to first consult with their primary care physician to determine if a referral to GRMC would be beneficial based on their medical condition. It is also encouraged that interested individuals contact their health insurance company to confirm coverage for any recommended procedures.
