The team held a lecture for graduating nursing students that focused on time management, managing conflict, understanding FTEs, and managing healthcare resources as a bridge to understanding their leadership content of study.
“UOG has been inviting our nursing management team for the past three to four years to talk to their senior nursing students,” said SVP/Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Cruz. “We were pleased to have the opportunity to share our leadership knowledge and experience with UOG’s graduating nurses who will soon be making invaluable contributions to the healthcare industry.”
Each GRMC nursing manager presented a topic. The managers provided insight and examples of how GRMC deals with these issues. Students were able to ask questions and interact with the nurse managers to get a feel for the leadership expectations, responses, and challenges of handling multidisciplinary teams in a hospital setting.
“We can not thank GRMC’s nurses enough for the generosity of time and expertise shared to our graduating seniors yesterday. Our students truly appreciated the real-life experiences and in-depth contextualization of the topics,” said Associate Professor Ana Joy Mendez, PhD, RN, of UOG’s School of Health. “BIBA nurses at GRMC and its leaders.”
