Biography

Dr. Luc Jasmin is a board-certified neurosurgeon with over 30 years of expertise in brain injury surgery, spine surgery, brain tumor surgery, and irradiation therapy for tumors, pain, and abnormal movements, amongst other specialties. He is the president of the Painless Research Foundation, a non-profit international research organization dedicated to eliminating pain through translational research, education, and advocacy—primarily for cancer pain, neuropathic pain, and post-operative pain.

Dr. Jasmin earned his medical degree and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Montréal in Canada. He then completed his surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the Notre Dame Hospital in Montréal. Dr. Jasmin later moved to California to complete his post-doctoral training in neuroscience at the University of California, San Francisco, where he also began his teaching career as an assistant professor for two years and later returned as an assistant adjunct professor for five years. Subsequently, he continued to teach at Georgetown University in D.C., the University of Texas Medical Branch, and Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Since 2006, Dr. Jasmin served as a contracted and locum tenens neurosurgeon throughout California, Washington, Texas, Oregon, Wyoming, Tennessee, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania. He currently serves at the Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee.

Dr. Jasmin is board certified with the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and a member of several professional associations including the Society for Neuroscience, the Royal College of Surgeons, the International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

When Dr. Jasmin is not caring for patients or working with his non-profit organization. he is an avid reader.
